L-Lion
(Panthera Leo) Lions are the second largest cats in the world, after tigers. They are native to Africa and India, and live in a variety of habitats, including grasslands, savannas, and woodlands. Lions are unique among cats in that they live in prides, which consist of related females and their offspring. While males in a pride do not participate in raising young, they do help to protect the pride’s territory.
Lions are apex predators and play an important role in the ecosystem by controlling populations of prey animals. However, lions are threatened by habitat loss and poaching, and are considered a vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
