Quahogs have a hard shell and feed on plants and plankton. Once they reach a certain size, they have a very low predation rate.

They burrow into the sandy ocean floor and close their shells completely, providing substantial protection from potential predators. Quahogs are an important part of the marine ecosystem and are also a popular seafood.
