W-Waterbuck
Waterbuck (Kobus ellipsiprymnus) is a large antelope found in sub-Saharan Africa. It is a sexually dimorphic antelope, with males being taller and heavier than females. Waterbucks are found in areas close to water, as they cannot tolerate dehydration in hot weather. They are predominantly grazers and are mostly found on grassland. Waterbucks breed throughout the year, but breeding is highest during the rainy season. Waterbuck are excellent swimmers and often enter the water to escape from predators. They are polygynous breeders, meaning that one male mates with more than one female.
Waterbucks are an important part of the ecosystem, as they help to control populations of grasses and other plants. They are also a food source for other animals, such as lions and leopards. Waterbucks are facing a number of threats, including habitat loss, poaching, and conflict with humans.
