Y-Yak
Yaks are large, long-haired, short-legged mammals that are native to the Himalayas. They are domesticated and wild, and can be found in a variety of colors, including black, brown, and rusty brown. Yaks are not known to make the same lowing sound as cattle, but they do grunt and squeak. Domesticated yaks are bred for their tractability and high milk production. They are also used for ploughing and threshing, as well as for meat, hides, and fur. Wild yaks (Bos grunniens) are ruminant grazers that migrate seasonally to the lower plains to eat grasses and herbs.
When it gets too warm, they retreat to higher plateaus to eat mosses and lichens helping to control populations of grasses and other plants. They are also a food source for other animals, such as snow leopards and wolves.
